Mangaluru : Saint Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu holds Muhurtha of Kannada T.V. Serial ‘Miracles of Saint Anthony’ Mangaluru, Dec 1 : Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha the Bishop of Mangaluru inaugurated the Muhurtha programme of the T.V. Serial ‘Miracles of Saint Anthony’ by displaying the title on the T.V. screen mounted on the stage at St Anthony Ashram Jeppu on Nov 30, 2018. He then released the Script of the Serial and blessed it by invoking God’s Blessings. In his message the Bishop said Saint Anthony being the faithful follower of Jesus Christ dedicated his life to the spreading of Kingdom of God. As a reward for his ministry God has preserved his tongue through past eight Centuries. He said that he had the privilege of visiting the place Padua in Italy where the tongue is preserved. Further he said that the upcoming T.V. Serial will help devotees of Saint Antony around the world to see his life and miracles and get inspired to do good.

Nine students’ seminarians conducted a various cultural activities, games, action songs, skit and dance. Rev Fr Anil Fernandes, Rector of the minor seminary said, “This exposure program was a part of their mid-term holiday. Apart from their academic studies. These extracurricular activities gives a lot of experience and personal learning”.

The focus group of the day to pray for was ailing people. Fr Alban in his homily said that there are some healings which have no medical explanations. They take place due to divine interventions.

Day-7 : Novena-St Anthony at Milagres Mangaluru. 12, Feb. 2017: Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, the Administrator of Fr Muller Medical College offered mass on the seventh day of novena. The focus group of the day was leaders. In his homily he said that the leadership responsibility that is given to us is to serve others. Jesus Christ came into this world to serve humanity. He is a perfect model for leadership. The worldly leaders fight for power and position. But as followers of Christ we need to follow Jesus and use power and position to serve people, he said.

The focus group of the day was children. In his homily Fr Dolphi asked the congregation to introspect on the way children are raised today. He asked the parents to give values to the children.

Fr John Baptist Saldanha, the Parish Priest of St Sebastian Church Permannur celebrated the Holy Mass on the fifth day of novena. ‘If any part of the body is hurt the entire body feels the pain’, he said. The Church spread throughout the world is the mystical body of Christ. If any members of the Church are suffering the entire Church feels the pain. And we as members of the Church should feel the pain and show solidarity with them.

He highlighted the service of the various Lay Associations(St Vincent de Paul, Sodality, Third Order, Youth, Women, Catholic Sabha etc.) who are rendering their selfless service for the growth of the church. He said that besides the Apostles, there were disciples, men and women who followed Jesus and offered their service in the ministry of Our Lord Jesus. Likewise today these Lay Associations are there in the Church providing opportunities for us to render our service for the growth of the Church. We appreciate and thank them for their services and lend our support to them.

Fr Jochim Fernandes, the Parish Priest of St Anne Church, Kelarai was the main celebrant. In his homily he pointed out the dignity of labour. ‘When we do our duty faithfully and with dedication we participate in the creation of work of God. We should feel happy and proud to do the work that is assigned to us. As employers we should treat our sub-ordinates with dignity. As employees we must be honest in our work’, he said.

Day-2 : Novena-St Anthony at Milagres Mangaluru, Feb. 7, 2017: Fr Franklin D’Souza, Director and Parish Priest of Our Lady of Health Shrine Church, Harihara, Diocese of Shimoga was the main celebrant of the day. During the homily he called on the couples to build the families by being collaborators with God. He said going against the will of God ruins the families. But that is not the end of it. The merciful God is ever ready to forgive us if we repent for our short comings and He will bless us abundantly. After the homily he made a special prayer for the couples and families. Large number of devotees filled the Church to the full. Earlier during the day he preached half a day retreat at St Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu which was also well attended.

Nine day novena begins in preparation for the feast of Relic of Saint Anthony Mangauru, Feb. 6, 2017: Rev Fr Walter D’Mello, the Associate Judicial Vicar of the Diocese of Mangalore inaugurated the nine days novena in preparation for the feast of Relic of Saint Anthony by hoisting the flag of Saint Anthony on 6-2-2017 at 5.45 pm near Saint Atnhony’s Shrine at Milagres Church Mangaluru. This was followed by the Holy Mass. The Holy Mass was offered for the special intention of Youth. During the homily Fr D’Mello spoke on the talents God has given to the youth and he asked them to make use of them in serving God, people and the Church to which they belong to.

He then distributed kuswar and gifts to the inmates followed by distribution of grocery items to the HIV affected family. Retreat in preparation for the feast of Relic A retreat was organized in preparation for the feast of Relic of Saint Anthony. The retreat was preached by well known preacher Fr Anil Dev of Mathridham Ashram, Varanasi. The retreat was organized from 9th February to 12th February in the evening from 4pm to 8pm. Around three thousand people participated in the retreat.

Blood donation camp organised by the three associations Mangalore Ladies Beauty Association in association with Red Cross Mangalore and Mangalorean.com organized a blood donation camp at Saint Anthony’s Charity Institutes on 17-11-2015. Nearly fifty people donated blood. On the previous day the Association members gave hair cut to the female inmates of the Institutes. The institutes remains grateful to their benevolent service to the inmates.

Visit by Women’s  Association Omzoor Parish A group of women of women from Holy Family Church Omzoor visited the Institutes on 22 October. They interacted with the residents and also donated fruits and gifts in kind.

Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore nd also the President of Saint Anthony’s Charity Institutes on 30 August 2014. The blessing of the Grotto was followed by Novena as it happened to be the first of nine days Novena in preparation for the feast of Nativity of our Mother.

Seminarians summer camp at Saint Anthony’s

Seminarians summer camp at Saint Anthony’s Six Brothers of Mangalore Diocese(Brothers: Praveen Joy Saldanha, Santhonsh D’Souza, Rahul D’Souza, Nelson Pais, Anil Fernandes and Lizel D’Souza) stayed at Saint Anthony’s for fifteen days to get to know the Institutes. During their stay they interacted with the residents, rendered service like putting things in order, shifting furniture to the renovated Chapel building, conducting games for the residents etc. The residents of the Institutes are grateful their service.
