The annual feast of Saint Anthony was celebrated on 13th June. Most Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore presided over the Eucharistic Celebration concelebrated by twenty priests from around Mangalore city. Around two thousand people participated in the Holy Eucharistic celebration. Saint Anthony’s bread was distributed to all those who participated in the Holy Mass.
As usual Holy Mass was also was celebrated at the Institutes at Jeppu at 11.30 am for the inmates and for the special invitees. Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu joined by nine priests celebrated the Holy Mass. It was followed by festive meal. Most Rev Dr Aloysiul Paul D’Souza the Bishop, Mr Ivan D’Souza the MLC and Mrs Jacintha Alfred the Mayor of the City, Ms Appi the Corporator were present on the occasion.
In addition to the these two traditional Holy Masses two more Eucharistic Celebrations were held this year, one at 8.15 in morning for the sick and elderly and another at 3 pm in Malayalam. Both these Holy Masses were held at Milagres church and the church was filled with people.
The Holy Triduum was held in preparation for the feast. Fr Cyprain D’Souza celebrated the Holy Mass and Fr Dolphi Serrao preached the homily. Both of them are Capuchin priests from St Ann’s Friary Bejai.
Saint Anthony’s Shrine Milagres was renovated in preparation for the feast and it was blessed by Msgr Denis Moras on 2 June.
