MANGALURU, JUNE 9: As the Tredicina devotion entered its tenth day, the faithful gathered in large numbers at St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu, and St Anthony Shrine, Milagres Church, Mangalore, to seek the intercession of St Anthony of Padua, the Wonder Worker, and reflect on the day’s spiritual theme:
“Be Instruments of Reconciliation and Peace – Journey as Pilgrims of Hope.”
The 6:00 PM Mass at Milagres Churchwas celebrated by Rev. Fr Dominic Vas, OCD, Parish Priest of Infant Mary Church, Bajjodi. In his deeply reflective homily, Fr Dominic emphasised the Christian call to build bridges, forgive, and sow peace in broken relationships, homes, and communities. Drawing inspiration from the life and mission of St Anthony, he reminded the congregation that reconciliation is not only a divine command but also a pathway to inner healing and communal harmony.
The Mass was concelebrated by Fr J. B. Crasta, Director of St Anthony’s Charitable Institutions, and Fr Praveen Martis, Administrator of the Ashram.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, Fr Praveen Martis led the novena devotion, offering prayers and intentions of the faithful to St Anthony, the saint known for his powerful intercession. The prayerful ambience, united voices, and heartfelt petitions added a special grace to the day’s liturgical celebrations.
MANGALURU, JUNE 8: The ninth day of the Tredicina devotion in honour of St Anthony of Padua unfolded with profound spiritual fervour at St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu, and St Anthony Shrine, Milagres Church, on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
The day’s theme, “Empowered by the Holy Spirit, Pray and Work for the Freedom of the Oppressed—Be Pilgrims of Hope,”stirred the hearts of the faithful to recognise the liberating presence of the Spirit in their lives and to advocate for justice, healing, and compassion, especially for those in various forms of bondage.
At the 6:00 PM Mass at Milagres Church, the principal celebrant was Rev. Fr Chethan Lobo, Capuchin, Editor of Sevak Monthly. In his powerful homily, Fr Lobo urged the congregation to open their hearts to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, drawing strength to bring light into the lives of the marginalised and the voiceless. Reflecting on the example of St Anthony, he invited the faithful to pray for the suffering and to be instruments of hope and freedom in today’s world.
The Holy Mass was concelebrated by Fr J. B. Crasta, Director of St Anthony’s Charitable Institutions, and Fr Praveen Martis, Administrator of the Ashram.
Following the Mass, Fr Praveen Martisconducted the novena devotion, lifting up the prayers and petitions of the people to the Miracle Worker Saint Anthony, in an atmosphere filled with reverence and faith.
Earlier in the day, Masses were celebrated at 6:00 AM and 11:30 AM at St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu, with hundreds of devotees in attendance. As part of the Ashram’s mission of charity, free lunch was served to all who came for the novena.
MANGALURU, JUNE 7: The eighth day of the ongoing Tredicina devotion in preparation for the annual feast of St Anthony of Paduawas devoutly observed at St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu, and St Anthony Shrine, Milagres Church, on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
The theme of the day, “Reflect the Word of God and Journey as Pilgrims of Hope,” invited the faithful to become living witnesses of the Gospel by embracing and embodying the teachings of Christ in their daily lives.
At the 6:00 PM Mass at Milagres Church, the main celebrant was Rev. Fr Arun Wilson Lobo, Principal of Padua College, Mangaluru. In his homily, Fr Arun Lobo highlighted the transformative power of the Word of God, encouraging the congregation to make Scripture a part of their prayer, relationships, and actions. He noted that St Anthony, known as the Evangelical Doctor, deeply meditated on the Scriptures and lived it out with simplicity and power.
The Eucharistic celebration was concelebrated by Fr J. B. Crasta, Director of St Anthony’s Charitable Institutions, and Fr Vivian Nishanth Rodrigues, Assistant Director.
After the Mass, Fr Vivian Rodrigues led the novena devotion, offering the faithful's prayers and petitionsto St Anthony, the Miracle Worker. The atmosphere was filled with faith and reverence as devotees joined in hymns, litany, and prayerful silence, trusting in the saint’s intercession.
At St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu, the day began with Masses at 6:00 AM and 11:30 AM, followed by free lunchfor all devotees—a tradition that reflects the Ashram's mission of service and solidarity with the poor.
MANGALURU, FEB 6: Devotees across the city are eagerly awaiting the annual relic feast of St Anthony of Padua, set to be celebrated with grandeur on February 8th, 2024, at the Milagres Church grounds. The highlight of the festivities will be the main festive Holy Mass, celebrated at 6 pm by the esteemed Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Mangalore. Rev.
